From one figure to printable pieces
Pick a piece on the right, then mark where it lives on the model. Every piece becomes an inlay of the depth you set; whatever you leave unmarked stays on the base piece. The pieces print separately and press together.
- Region click
- Hover first: the highlight shows exactly what a click will fill. A uniform region fills whole; a mixed region fills only the part that matches the spot under the cursor (same colour, no crease, never across the groove where a raised piece meets the surface). Shift+click limits the fill to the brush radius around the click, for stubborn spots. Alt+click removes.
- Brush
- Drag to paint the active piece exactly where you want it. Painted areas always beat region fills.
- Smooth
- Drag over bumps, seams or holes to have that surface smoothed in the cut.
- Pen
- Draw a loop around an area. Everything inside the loop (front surface only) becomes the active piece, so a region that straddles two pieces can be split: loop the part that belongs elsewhere and assign it. Pen marks beat region fills, like the brush.
- Edge smoothing
- Rounds the piece outline to a clean curve. What you see is what gets cut.
- Explode
- Pulls the pieces apart to check what you will be assembling. Pieces are shown as solids with their inlay depth and the base shows the matching pockets.
- Parts view
- Replaces the figure with a plate: every piece, base included, laid out floor-down with its name and size, the way it will print. Switching plays a transition so you can see which pocket each piece comes from. Region clicks still work there; painting switches back to the figure.
- Sockets
- A piece that sits inside another piece's outline (eyes in the face) gets a shallow socket in that piece: the socket floor is the plate's back lifted by 1 mm, so the plate stays closed under it. The face plate defaults to 3 mm to leave room.
- Outline
- Per piece: free (follows the colour border), smooth curve, oval or circle. The reference model's inserts are clean circles and ovals; a regular outline is a geometric cut, it takes whatever lies inside the curve. Eyes, ears and noses default to circle, face, hair and muzzle to smooth.
- Mating surface
- By default every piece gets a flat floor and straight walls: one plane, at least the inlay depth below the piece's thinnest point, so it prints flat side down and press-fits. A piece that wraps around the figure cannot lift out of a flat pocket; switch it to "follows the surface".
- Sending changes
- Next to Copy for Claude, choose what to send: everything, only the smooth marks, only the brush strokes, or only the marked regions. Partial files load back the same way.
- Remove
- Alt+click or Alt+drag takes a region or paint away. Right-click a region removes it too.
